What is Joey like?

Joey is a beautiful young Shepherd mix with an enormous smile and a whole life waiting ahead of him.

At only a few months old, Joey was hit by a car and left behind. His injured leg required surgery, but this brave little boy has recovered beautifully and is now ready to put that chapter behind him.

Joey does not dwell on what happened. He is far too busy smiling, enjoying life and preparing to make up for lost time.

Joey is a wonderfully happy boy whose joy is written all over his face...he genuinely smiles!

He travels beautifully in the car and has become accustomed to walking on the lead. These are wonderful foundations for a young dog and will help him enjoy plenty of new experiences with his future family.

After spending part of his puppyhood recovering, Joey is now ready for the fun he missed: walks, games, adventures, cuddles and all the ordinary moments that make being part of a family so special.

Like every puppy, he is still learning. He will need continued positive training, socialisation and patient guidance as he grows through adolescence and into adulthood.

Joey’s ideal home

Joey needs a loving, committed family who understands the time, patience and consistency involved in raising a young Shepherd-type dog.

He would love people who will include him in everyday life, continue building his confidence and provide an appropriate balance of exercise, enrichment, training and rest.

His future family should be ready to help him experience the world safely and positively, giving him the opportunity to become the happy, well-rounded adult dog he has every potential to be.

Joey is very happy around other dogs and cats! He has not met children yet.

Joey’s young life could have ended at the side of a road. Instead, he was given the treatment he needed, recovered from his surgery and emerged with his happiness completely intact.

Now, he is ready for a new beginning.

Joey needs a family who will fill the years ahead with everything his early life was missing: safety, kindness, laughter, new experiences and unconditional love.

All potential adopters will complete our application process, including an initial telephone conversation and a home check. An adoption donation will apply and full rescue backup will be provided.
