What is Kev like?

Please don’t let his size fool you. Kev may be a little lad, but he has an enormous personality, a heart of gold and enough main-character energy to fill an entire home.

Kev was found as a stray and handed into a vet practice without a microchip. We don’t know where he came from or what his life looked like before, but we know the boy standing in front of us now: friendly, playful, affectionate and incredibly easy to love.

He arrived in kennels with nothing of his own, so we took him shopping for some toys. Kev had the time of his life in the toy aisle and made absolutely sure that every other customer knew about it! He loves his toys, loves his walks and loves being fussed over, but what stood out most was how much he appreciated simply having a break from kennels. If you have seen Kev before, you may know he comes as a package deal with his toy duck!

Kev takes life in his stride. He loves getting out and exploring, with plenty of stamina packed into those little legs, but he is also wonderfully content to settle beside his people.

On his walks, he happily tootles along, enjoying plenty of opportunities to sniff without pulling to use the full length of his lead. He is attentive, obedient and sits beautifully for a treat which he always takes very gently.

When we stop for a break, Kev decides that if you are relaxing, he is too. He enjoys a little lap cuddle and loves to snuggle up in blankets too. We can imagine Kev will make short of work of finding the most comfortable sofa spot at home.

Kev is a happy boy, he has his own "Kev confidence" in most situations and absolutely doesn't mind making people smile and laugh. Why drink from an ordinary water bowl when you can accost the man watering the flowers and drink directly from his watering can instead? Why go shopping for toys and not sit on the shelves yourself?

That is Kev: sweet, funny, affectionate and utterly full of character.

A little more about Kev

You may notice that Kev’s bottom jaw is shorter than his top jaw. This does not appear to trouble him at all. He eats, drinks, plays and takes treats normally and we think it simply adds to his wonderfully unique little face.

Kev could happily live as the only dog and soak up all the attention for himself. He may also be able to live with another suitable dog, subject to successful introductions and meets.

He could live with dog-savvy children aged 12 or over. We do not know whether he has previously lived with younger children, so an older, understanding household would be the most appropriate match.

Kev has not been cat tested, but he does have a few terrier traits and does like to chase, so we would say he is not suitable to live with cats.

Kev’s ideal home

Kev is looking for a family who wants a genuine companion: someone to take on adventures, include in everyday life and welcome onto their lap when it is time to relax.

He is a young dog who will benefit from continued training, enrichment and plenty of opportunities to explore. In return, his family will gain an affectionate, comical and loyal little shadow who will make even ordinary days more entertaining.

He may only be 10kg, but Kev will fill an entire home β€” and your whole heart.

Could Kev be your little dude?

Kev deserves more than occasional adventures and borrowed laps. He deserves toys of his own, a place on the sofa and a family to do life with.

We may not know his whole past, but we know the boy he is now and he deserves more than rescue. He deserves a real home.

All potential adopters will complete our application and home-check process. An adoption donation will apply and full rescue backup will be provided.

Please apply if you believe you could offer Kev the loving, secure forever home he deserves.

If you cannot adopt, please share his profile. His future family may be just one share away. πŸ’šπŸΎ
