Meet Pickle

Pickle is a happy, affectionate puppy with a wonderfully unusual résumé: devoted cuddler, enthusiastic cat playmate and self-appointed supervisor of the garden chickens.

Her story began when she was abandoned on somebody’s doorstep, hidden beneath a coat.

Thankfully, Pickle was found and taken into a home, where she has lived ever since. Rather than growing up on the hard streets or in the pound, she has experienced the comfort, companionship and everyday routines of family life.

Now, this sweet little girl needs a forever family of her own.

What is Pickle like?

Pickle is four months old and is expected to be medium-sized when fully grown, reaching around 20kg.

She currently lives with cats and loves trying to involve them in her games. Any resident cat in her future home would need to be confident and comfortable around a playful puppy, with introductions and interactions managed carefully.

Pickle is also good with other dogs and has benefited from growing up around other animals.

There are chickens in the garden of her foster home too. Checking on them has become part of Pickle’s nighttime routine - she likes to check they are all there and safe. Her relationship with them should not be taken as a guarantee that she could live unsupervised with chickens, but it is another lovely part of the home life she knows.

Pickle also lives with a young child and is very accustomed to sharing gentle cuddles with her. She is growing up surrounded by affection and enjoys being included as part of the family.

Pickle’s ideal home

Pickle needs a loving, committed family who understands everything involved in raising a puppy.

Although she has had a wonderful start in foster care, she is still very young and will need continued training, socialisation and patient guidance as she grows into an adolescent and then an adult dog.

She could potentially live with another suitable dog and may also be able to share her home with a confident, dog-savvy cat.

As Pickle currently lives happily with a young child, she may be suitable for a family with children. Any match will consider the children’s ages, experience and ability to interact safely and respectfully with a growing puppy.

Most importantly, Pickle needs a family who will include her in everyday life and give her all the companionship, enrichment, boundaries and affection she needs.

Could you be Pickle’s forever family?

Pickle’s life could have been very different. She was left hidden beneath a coat with no family to protect her, but kindness gave her a safe place to grow.

She has learnt what it feels like to live in a home, cuddle with a child, play with animal friends and be part of a family’s daily routine.

Now, she needs a family who will make sure she is never abandoned again.

All potential adopters will complete our application process, including an initial telephone conversation and a home check. An adoption donation will apply and full rescue backup will be provided.

If you cannot adopt, please share her profile. Somewhere out there is a family missing a cuddler, playmate and nighttime chicken supervisor.... they just haven’t met Pickle yet. 💚🐾
